Eclectic Randomness - 2006

Eclectic Randomness was brought into existence in October 2006, when Wildefire Walcott wanted to hold an event she called an “all-alt-orgy”. The event basically required attendees to roll-up a fresh noob avatar, and use only freebies to outfit them for the party. She had seen a prim penis that I had created, and since default avatars do not come with genitals, she asked if I’d be willing to make a freebie version that could be handed out at the event, so that the “orgy” part of her event could be a tad more appealing.

Up to that point, I had only made some jetpacks for sale, which I was selling under the “WV” label, in Jaxon Warf’s “Vehicle Shoppe.” I hadn’t been in SL very long, and I didn’t shop much. The few stores I had seen were clothes shops, or avatar shops, shoe shops or glasses shops.. usually specialized, one-type-of-item places. When Wildefire said I should be selling the prim penis, I said that I thought “Winter Ventura’s Penis & Jetpack Emporium” wouldn’t make a very good name for a store. I jokingly suggested that I should call my store “Eclectic Randomness”.. and the name stuck.

Today, Eclectic Randomness has grown. From it’s humble beginnings as a tiny box on the corner of borrowed land, ER has grown to many varied products, and several store locations, with networked affiliate vendors in clubs, malls, and playspaces all across the grid. Though we’ve grown, ER’s scope is still just as Eclectic, and still just as Random. With items ranging from Jetpacks to Genitals, Robots to Warehouses, and Furniture to Fetishwear.
